AQ Wiring Systems is part of a Swedish concern with a global reach – the AQ Group. The company is a global supplier of electronic components and systems for the most demanding customers from industrial sectors.

The AQ Group has been present on the market for 25 years and currently employs 6000 people at 39 factories around the world. A significant part of its production facilities is located in Poland, at two plants in Starogard Gdański and Łódź.

AQ Wiring Systems has been operating in Starogard for 20 years. The plant produces cable harnesses used, among others, in medical equipment, agricultural machinery, and buses. Clients of the Starogard branch include such global brands as Scania, Bombardier, Komatsu, Zoeller, Krone, Grimme, and ABB. In order to keep up with the ever-increasing volume of orders, the company’s management has decided to build a new production plant. Their new plant will generate up to 400 new jobs.

- Our new factory has an area of 7,000 square meters. With significantly more space than we have at the old plant not only will we be able to optimize production, but also to significantly increase the volume of orders completed. This will also enable us to double our employment figures, which in the near future will reach 600 members of staff - says Ewa Sulewska, Managing Director at AQ Wiring Systems.

The new factory is being built in Linowiec, just outside Starogard. The hall has already undergone technical inspections and the company plans to move to the facility at the beginning of Q4 this year.

We are not moving far for two reasons. First of all, we still feel enormous support from the local authorities, which help us with the implementation of all projects. And most of all, because of our employees, as the majority of them come from Starogard and the surrounding areas. When discussing our investment plans, we did not consider any other option than an expansion here - explains Ewa Sulewska.

Due to the dynamic development of the company, AQ is looking for candidates to work as assemblers of cable harnesses, but not only. What is important and not commonly found among contract manufacturers, AQ Wiring Systems offers stable employment based on a contract of employment.

- We are a company with Scandinavian roots and in our work, we always prioritize trust, partnership, and mutual respect – adds Ewa Sulewska.

This is another Swedish project recently supported by our initiative ‘Invest in Pomerania’. Last year we announced the construction of new production plants for Etac in Tczew and for Northvolt in Gdańsk. Today we are in Starogard, which brings us great joy, as it shows that Pomerania is more than just the Tricity and that global manufacturing companies can successfully develop in other locations as well – says Ryszard Świlski, Deputy Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship.

- We are perceived as a build-to-print operation because that’s what we did for quite some time. But, over the years we have developed expertise in design and have developed our capabilities in sheet metal and plastic mouldings. With our new plants up and running, we hope to not only increase our production and customer base but also our product line where we offer more options with sheet metal and plastic mouldings. We also plan to offer to work with our clients on the design phase of their products and most importantly develop more products for the electric mobility industry - said Mikael Alvarsson – Chief Engineer and Chief Project Manager “New Plant” and a representative of the AQ Steering Committee
